Helping a Washington Family Find Peace
A client recently sent this note to our Washington County Family Resource Specialist John Burt. The client was referred following safety concerns and his acknowledgment that “everyone is afraid of me”. John, I just wanted to say Thanks for everything that you have done for me and my family. My life has changed so much. I wish we could have done this about 20 years ago. The skills that I have today would have helped me out in so many situations and saved many of my relationships. I feel like a new man. I know I have a long road ahead of me and it may be bumpy at times, but I know that I...

A Kind Note from a York County Mother
To Whom It May Concern: My son was assigned to a caseworker from Justice Works. At the time he was assigned to Justice Works I felt that my son and I did not need your services but it was court ordered and did not have a choice but to work with your organization. I was completely wrong. Once I met Brian Hanson, he explained in detail about how Justice Works Youth Care will help myself and my son. Thank you for Brian Hanson, my son does not respond to male figures but to my delight and surprise relates to Brian. It has only been a month and a half and I have seen Cody...

FRS received nickname the “It Girl”……. And carried on the “Whatever it takes motto!" A family was moved from an unfit residence in Harrisburg, to a fabulous FISH home in York County. The family moved into their new residence in mid-February with the thought that the 16 year old client, Sarah, was going to be reunified after 3 years of being in foster care. Sarah ran two weeks prior to the family’s court hearing where recommendations were that client be released to mom’s care. The judge was not satisfied with just returning Sarah home, so the FRS, CYF and the family put a plan in place to...
Our Ellen Miller in York Does Great!
FRS worked with a 17 year old female that was very self conscious with her weight which led to truancy issues. The family was disappointed with the services that they were receiving from the client’s current cyber school. During a six month time frame, FRS worked with the family and assisted them with getting started for the school year with a new cyber school that was going to address the client's educational needs. Once the school issue was addressed, FRS worked on boosting Lindsay's self esteem by getting her out of the home on regular basis. FRS linked Lindsay to a local gym where she...
