No Distance Too Great
On March 13th, 2020 Pennsylvania’s Governor Wolf made the difficult decision to close schools for a two week period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The school closure is now effective throughout the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This mandated closure affected our three alternative high schools for disruptive youth: Compass Academy Mt. Carmel; Lycoming and Schuylkill. We are, of course, disappointed not to be able to continue our schools as usual, our greatest goal was to be able to continue our students’ education. Compass Academy teams rallied to quickly a design a distance...
Appreciation from Cambria County!
Email received from Cambria County Children and Youth Services Administrative Officer, Matt Conjelko: "Your staff has always done a great job keeping communications open and planning for whatever may be coming down the pike, whether it is the Covid-19 virus, transitioning staff, or trouble shooting glitches. I wanted you to be aware and thank you for training your staff well." We're proud to be a valued partner with Cambria County and appreciate their CYS' Administrative Officer Matt Conjelko to take the time to appreciate JusticeWorks.
JusticeWorks Staff Recognition from Perry County!
Email received from Perry County Children and Youth Caseworker, Jessica Miller: “I just wanted to let you know a few things. I have been working with Kathy on one of our cases and I just wanted to let you know that she is doing such a great job. I do not usually do this, but I wanted to let you know that she has gone above and beyond! She is so diligent with sending me daily updates, having great communication between me and the family, and finding and helping the family with resources. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate her and how great of a job she is doing. I know my...
Matt Kurowsky and Ian Nutt Promoted to Regional Directors
In February, JusticeWorks promoted two of its very own, Ian Nutt and Matt Kurowsky, as Regional Directors. Ian and Matt have ‘big shoes’ to fill, as they will be replacing former Regional Director, Errone Cody. Errone’s region had grown so large, and sprawling, that we decided to break it into two. We wish Ms. Cody well in her new role with the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts. Five years ago, Ian began his career with JusticeWorks as a Program Director in Lycoming County, PA as the only staff member for the region. Ian’s abilities as the Program Director resulted in...
A Message From Our Founder
A message from our Founder, Mr. Dan Heit, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic: Hi All, I know you are concerned to outright terrified. Whatever your feeling tone, it is justified. I’ve been saying it’s like we woke up a week ago in a science fiction horror movie. Understandably, many of you have expressed concern about JusticeWorks’ ability to weather the pressures on our business. I only have one goal at the moment: to realize our motto to ‘build better futures’. That means JusticeWorks will survive and we will maintain as much employment as possible. We all know that when we get...
