Juneteenth- Freedom Day!

An email sent to staff by our Founder, Dan Heit: Good afternoon everyone, As I hope you know, tomorrow marks the Juneteenth holiday, which commemorates the final State (Texas) to receive word and acknowledge the Emancipation Proclamation, abolishing slavery and freeing all slaves.   It is a bittersweet irony that it took two and a half years , and the conclusion of the Civil War for that important step for ‘freedom and liberty for all’ to become the law of the entire nation.  Just as it is tragically bittersweet, that 157 years after the Emancipation Proclamation our country has not...

I felt...

Breaking the Silence: A Message from Joshua Nielsen, Family Resource Specialist

“I swore never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation. We must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” — Elie Wiesel I just wanted to reach out and share an encouraging story that I was a part of in my community of Lansdale, Montgomery County.  On Monday night, I stood on a street corner alone in my town with a poster that read "Black Lives Matter" to show support and solidarity for the black community in Lansdale. While I was there alone, Lieutenant Devlin of the...
