As you likely know, yesterday President Biden signed authorizing legislation making June 19th, known as Juneteenth, a National Holiday. Given the short notice, we will celebrate the day as a paid holiday this Monday, June 21st.  In years to come we will adjust the day off depending on when June 19th falls. Paying it Forward!

A few years ago, Phyllis Wood, one of our successful Independent Living Youth, told the following story: “At sixteen, success was not something I could imagine until I completed the JusticeWorks IL program. I am now twenty, and the things I have accomplished due to the caring staff of JusticeWorks have shaped me into the young woman that I never knew I could be. I have a high school diploma, beat homelessness, and attend college. Foster child Receives Forever Home!

Family Resource Specialist, Kathy Barnes, was assigned to work with a child and his family in February 2020, as a Visit Coach. Kathy relayed the following heartwarming story: I was assigned in February 2020 as a Visit Coach for both parents of a child in the foster care system. I also provided transportation to and from the Juniata County CYS office, which allowed me to get to know them both a little better.
