Rebecca Holbrook is the JusticeWorks Truancy Remediation Specialist for Washington County. She began working with “Joey” in December of 2012. “Joey’s” primary goal was to understand the importance of attending school as he had struggled with truancy the prior year. The family indicated “Joey” was diagnosed with seasonal affective disorder.
Through Rebecca’s use of the WhyTry program and her ability to connect well with “Joey”, he began to understand what was propelling his negative behavior. Rebecca helped him become motivated to get back on track and enjoy living a more productive life. He came to see that the benefits stretched to all aspects of his life. “Joey’s” mother reported, happily, that her communication with him improved and that strengthened their relationship.
The proof is in the pudding and the following personal letter expresses this outcome best of all! We thank Rebecca for her commitment and hard work and “Joey” for having the courage to change.
