On December 2, 2010 we began serving Dauphin County’s Office of Children & Youth Services. This is the 13th County that JusticeWorks is operating in. We are providing our STOPP® program as well as Family Group Conferencing (FGDM).
Dauphin CYS Director Sue Cohick described the County’s decision to contract:
“Justice Works was introduced to Dauphin County at a National Governors’ Association meeting. Counties were asked at the meeting to share their successes in safely reducing placements. Lehigh County spoke highly about a program they had initiated with JusticeWorks – STOPP® (Short-term Therapeutic Outreach to Prevent Placement).
Upon returning to the office, Dauphin County immediately invited Justice Works to share information about their program. With the support of our County Commissioner, George Hartwick III, we decided to initiate a contract for the STOPP® program.
As of December 1, 2010 we are providing referrals. Our Intake units have worked collaboratively with Justice Works to define the target population, the referral process and other start-up issues. At a recent staff meeting where Justice Works presented, the “buzz” in the area was excitement. To finally have a service provider that will respond in 1-3 hours and do whatever is necessary is awesome! We are truly grateful to JusticeWorks and look forward to a long-term relationship.”
We are honored by Dauphin County’s trust in JusticeWorks, and we will do whatever it takes to help the county manage its resources wisely and achieve positive outcomes for families and community.
