This is an email written by Compass Academy Principal, Marc Silvetti. A recent graduate of the Academy reached out to share a difficult day with Marc.
James,
Now I got your email in my system, I will check in from time to time.
I was thinking the other day when you said you only lasted a day and a half at that job. A year ago, you probably wouldn’t have made it into that door. THAT’S PROGRESS!!!
Find something you like, then it doesn’t seem like work or at least find something that makes you feel good about yourself. That could be breaking down boxes, delivering oil, or whatever as long as you find value in it: the paycheck is a nice bonus!
That job I was telling you about at the ribbon factory in Berwick……I found value because it counted how many spools I did each night. For me, it became a challenge to better the night before. I was still getting smoked by the older women there (they would literally double my totals) but I made it fun and got through it.
You’ll find your “ribbon factory”
Talk soon,
James’s response:
It’s late, I’m sorry but I just saw this. I have to say Thank you Mr.Silvetti. I really don’t want to know where I would be if I never went to compass. I’m still no saint, but you saved my life, sounds cliché but it is the truth. I Love You man, lol. Whenever you guys have a lax day get ahold of me and I will come work out or help around…
James, good luck finding your “ribbon factory!” Always know you have a place to come to when you need support.
Principal Silvetti, you have touched the lives of so many students! We thank you for being the Ambassador of the “Whatever It Takes” philosophy in supporting the youth in our community!
